MPS PLASTIC IN THE MIDDLE OF THE “BEST PRACTICE EXAMPLES FROM THE PHOENIX COUNTRIES”
In the last report 2021-2022, PHOENIX launched a new sustainability agenda, which focuses on five main topics:
A decisive step of the project considers that all containers made with recycling material will replace the traditional ones made in virgin plastic within all PHOENIX sites. Once this conversion has taken place, the PHOENIX group plans to save overall 750 tons of plastic per year.
The Italian branch Comifar, situated in Novate Milanese and belonging to the PHOENIX group, was the first launching this project in collaboration with MPS Plastic and all its containers, which have been purchased in 2021, are made of 100% recycled plastic. This conversion allowed to recover 11 tons of plastic from the environment in just one year. Based on this model, four other branches of the group successfully tested this approach and the relative procedures for the conversion have been initiated.
THE ADDED VALUE OF MPS PLASTIC
For over 15 years MPS Plastic has developed an internal department, which is hyper-specialised in the conversion of products from virgin plastic to recycling plastic. Experience, technologies, methodologies, manufacturing processes and a supply chain focused on the injection moulding with recycled plastic are provided every day to companies and multinational corporations leader in the pharmaceutical, automotive, and industrial design industries.
In the specific case of the PHOENIX group, the contribution of MPS Plastic is not limited to the only function of production, but assumes a consulting character, which extends to all elements of the conversion project. Indeed, the partnership is across-the-board and comprehends the activities of reverse engineering, prototyping, mould production, testing on the automatization lines, verification of the operating comfort, wear control, and monitoring of the life cycle of a product.
Thanks to the model offered from MPS Plastic, PHOENIX could focus in just one supplier all the main activities of the project, cancelling the organisational conflicts and optimizing the transformation process.
All this has turned into an efficient and rapid transformation process to sustainable recycling materials, without any impact on the productivity. The final purpose that PHOENIX and MPS Plastic set themselves is indeed the production and, consequently, the employment of containers made of 100% recycling plastic throughout all PHOENIX sites.
Therefore, it can be finally said that the use of recycled plastic represents a fundamental step for MPS Plastic, toward the achievement of a single but essential purpose: to guarantee the customer an impeccable service, always considering the impact on the environment, for a sustainable future.
